University of Oxford

University of Oxford is an internationally renowned center for teaching and research. Located in the city of Oxford, England, it is the oldest university in the English-speaking world and lays claim to nine centuries of continuous existence. Oxford attracts students and scholars from across the globe, with almost a quarter of our students from overseas. More than 130 nationalities are represented among a student population of over 18,000.

Oxford is a collegiate university. It has 39 self-governing colleges related to the University. There are also seven Permanent Private Halls, founded by different Christian denominations. Thirty colleges and all halls admit students for both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Seven other colleges are for graduates only; one has Fellows only, and one specializes in part-time and continuing education.

Oxford offers undergraduates a unique learning experience through the tutorial system, in which students meet regularly with their college tutor, either on a one-to-one basis or with one or two other students, as an integral part of the pedagogic mix.

Graduate students make up more than a quarter of the total student body. The University offers a wide range of taught graduate and research degrees, ranging from one to three or more years in length.
